What Is Webcraft Studios?

Eventually, a Web tech company. Right now, Webcraft Studios is merely a glimmer in my eye. My closest friends and colleges have heard me talk about the company for a long time. While I am currently interacting with many of my personal clients through the email and tools setup on the domain, the company does not exist in any formal (legal) sense. I’m not entirely sure what state, or even country, I intend to found the business in.

What’s So Cool About It?

The company will be founded on two types of open principles. The first is a business principle. This blog embodies that principle. I’ve observed a trend where some companies have become considerably more transparent with the general public. I believe that, in time, this trend will become the norm as consumers gravitate towards brands they trust.

The second principle is about software. (It’s really the same principle, per say, applied differently.) I believe in open source software. I intend to build all of Webcraft Studios entirely on open source software. In the event that we simply can not avoid commercial software - which I hope never happens - we will still strive to not only use such software as little as possible, but to also replace that software as soon as a viable alternative is available.

Want To Know More?

The business plan is a little more complex than what is covered here. In time, bits and pieces of this plan may unfold within this blog. Mostly, this blog will cover lessons learned and stories of adventure. It is my hope that, if nothing else, this blog can help other companies adopt the right open source platforms.
